According to The Hollywood Reporter UK public broadcaster BBC scored 26.3 million viewers during its broadcast of the spectacular and joyous closing ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics on Sunday night, 12 August.
Only the Danny Boyle-directed opening ceremony had more viewers (26.9m) during the Olympic broadcasts.
The average UK viewership for the Olympics was 22.9 million.
