Free-to-air community TV station Cape Town TV (CTV) has been broadcasting from a single transmitter located on Tygerburg Hill since September 2009. On 27 March 2012 CTV relocated from channel 38 to channel 67 on the UHF band to make way for digital terrestrial television (DTT).
Because the new channel is on a higher frequency, those who now get poor signal quality can improve their reception by purchasing a wide band UHF aerial. These are outdoor, grid-type aerials that should be installed on the roof in order to get clear line-of-sight to Tygerberg.
This aerial will be required in order to pick up the digital TV signal once DTT is launched later this year.
