The Eighth Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), which takes place from 19 to 28 October 2012 at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Da Duan Culture Centre, Tai-Chung City, is calling for entries. To be eligible documentaries must not have been premiered in Taiwan before. This does not apply to documentaries produced in Taiwan.
TIDF is jointly hosted by the Taipei City government, the Department of Culture Affairs and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMOFA).
Categories are divided into two sections: Feature-length documentary (film length more than 60 minutes) and Mid-length and Short documentary (film length up to 60 minutes). Prizes will be awarded for the two categories, including best the Asian Vision Award and the Taiwan Award selected from Taiwan-themed films.
Documentaries that have been shot after 1 July 2010 are eligible to enter the competition.
TIDF is a biennial event that was established in 1998. Since 2006 TIDF has been curated by the NTMOFA in order to build a resource centre for Asian documentaries .
The festival aims to stimulate the exchange of perspectives, promote interactions and dialogues between international and Taiwanese documentary filmmakers and broaden the Taiwanese audience’s horizon of internationalisation.
