Broadband TV News reports that on midnight on Tuesday, 17 April, London switched off its analogue TV broadcasting signal forever. Some 52 relay transmitters are affected by the digital switchover, freeing up more capacity for the UK’s DTT platform, Freeview.
There will now also be more capacity for mobile broadband services in the London area.
North East England and Northern Ireland are expected to complete their digital switchover before the end of the year.
