A new aspirational and inspirational current affairs show premieres on the eNews Channel on Friday, 13 April at 20:45. Against All Odds, hosted by 2011 Vodacom Journalist of The Year Award recipient Mpho Lakaje, profiles ordinary people who rise against devastating odds to achieve extraordinary success.

This 15-minute show unearths individuals who challenge conventional thinking to achieve what seem like impossible goals.

“Whilst doing research and working as a reporter, I came across and met amazing people doing remarkable things for their fellow human beings,’ says Lakaje. “I always wanted to tell the stories of these unsung heroes who do such a magnificent job helping others in need. In some cases these humanitarians come from the same background as those they are helping, or have experienced the same adversities.”

Every week Lakaje profiles two people from different walks of life. Interviews are conducted in their own environment, either at home or their place of work.

According to Lakaje, Against All Odds is a concept that reflects how he sees the world and it is a drive towards making South Africans appreciate the good in themselves.

“Too many times we focus on the negative news, while there are so many good people and great things to talk about in our country,’ continues Lakaje. “The programme aims to inspire the nation and prove that South Africa has much more to offer beyond crime, unemployment and other social ills.’

Against All Odds premiers on eNews Channel on Friday, 13 April at 20:45. Repeats on Saturdays (7:45 AM, 10:45 AM, 7:45 PM), Sundays (08:45 AM, 14:45 AM, 22:45 PM) and Mondays (8:45 AM and, 1:45 PM)
