Fifty-six-year-old SABC economics editor Amrit Manga passed away on 5 April at the Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Parktown, Johannesburg.
According to the SABC News website, Manga, who worked for the broadcaster for over seven years, had been battling colon cancer and last week contracted double pneumonia.
SABC’s group executive for News and Current Affairs Phil Molefe said the broadcaster was deeply saddened by Manga’s death.
“It will take time for us to find a replacement of the calibre of Amrit Manga. He was very well informed in terms of political developments, economics, business and labour matters. Amrit was a well rounded journalist. We convey our deepest sympathy to his wife and daughter and his friends,” stated Molefe.
