Saffron TV changes DStv channel number

As from 1 November Saffron TV, South Africa’s local Indian lifestyle and entertainment channel, will move from channel 456 to channel 187 on DStv, joining the pay-TV satellite bouquet’s lifestyle line-up. Saffron TV will be available to DStv Premium and DStv Compact subscribers every Saturday and Sunday between 1pm and 6pm.  

It will still be available to the DStv Indian bouquet. The channel move is to allow a wider mix of viewers to explore India’s unique culture and lifestyle.

Saffron TV offers viewers an exotic mix of food shows, holistic wellness and travel from the Indian continent, which has a broad appeal for DStv subscribers. A refreshed Saffron TV schedule launches a star-studded line-up of family entertainment shows and pumping music television blocks aimed at a younger audience. 

“Saffron TV is a one-stop destination for South Africa’s Indian viewers, packaging together the best of lifestyle and family entertainment programming. In response to the new channel location we have packaged a lifestyle schedule that will entertain a broader audience who are interested in lifestyle trends coming out of the Asian sub-continent,’ says channel manager Aleeshia Naidoo.

Saffron TV has acquired a formidable line-up of acclaimed shows for the November schedule. New shows starting in November 2011 include:
Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena – combines two of India’s greatest passions, ‘Cricket and Glamour’. Current cricket heroes and the most beautiful divas from Indian television fight it out on the dance-floor.

Star Attraction – Season 5 of this popular series brings all the glitz, glamour and gossip of Bollywood, as Shalandra brings you the latest news of both local events and happenings and international stars. Follow this entertaining and enjoyable update on the world of the flash and fabulous across the seas, and our hot and happening local events.

Life’s a Beach – glamorous South African born model Sarah-Jayne Bedford explores all and everything you can do at the water’s edge in search of fun, frolic and adventure. From skinny dipping in the pristine blue waters of Tioman in east Malaysia or shopping at the busy beach shops of Pattaya, her adventures are a feast for the eyes.

Under The Sun – host and world traveler Nathan LeRoy takes viewers on an international adventure to discover the beautiful and diverse organic farms around the globe. From the Indian Himalayas to the Welsh countryside, from the lush vineyards of Italy to the Moroccan desert, Under the Sun highlights the immense growth and popularity of organic, natural foods across the world.
