A 26 episode television series called Challenge Sink or Swim, currently in production, will see teenagers from different schools in the Western Cape competing in outdoor challenges to win a state-of-the-art Mecer computer lab for their school.
Learners between the ages of 12 and 15 from eight different schools in the Cape Town and Grabouw areas will be challenging each other head-on in a series of elimination heats for the title of Unsinkable Outdoor Class of 2011.
The show, anchored by Mpho Kgosana, promises nail biting action, high adrenaline levels, suspense and loads of emotion and will be a true test of the teams’ determination, strength, bravery and willpower to return to their school as victors.
The first two teams are from Milnerton High in Milnerton, Cape Town and Groenberg High, the local high school in Grabouw. In the first heat of four they will have to conquer their fear of heights and abseil down a 15m sheer rock cliff in Kleinmond, look jaws in the mouth in Gansbaai, complete a radical obstacle course and then complete a serious orienteering challenge.
The teams who make it through to the semi-finals will face more action packed challenges.
After each challenge teams and crew will go “home’ to the outdoor tented camp, Tri Active Lodge in the Elgin Valley.
Challenge Sink or Swim will be broadcast on SABC3 from Saturday 22 October at 8:30.
The website www.sostv.co.za, as well as Facebook and Twitter pages will be up and running when the series starts, and will offer news and pictures of the teams and the challenges.
