According to The Hollywood Reporter The Simpsons has been renewed for two more seasons after tense negotiations with the voice acting cast threatened the future of the popular animated series. The two new seasons will be the 24th and 25th, making The Simpsons the longest running scripted series on US network television.
Fox announced recently that they had to reduce costs because the show’s economic model was no longer viable. The actors were willing to have their salaries lowered in return for a share of back end profits from syndication and licensing, but were refused by the studio.
Although the terms of the deal wasn’t announced, sources claim that the voice actors have accepted a pay cut of around 30% – from $440,000 per episode to just over $300,000 per episode.
