Business Day reports that group company secretary of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Thelma Melk, has been suspended on charges that include taking leave without authorisation and poor work performance.
This is the latest woe to befall the beleaugured broadcaster. Melk was tasked with ensuring the maintenance of good governance and compliance with the Public Finance Management Act.
The suspension comes at a time when the SABC is applying to Treasury and the Ministry of Communications for another financial bail-out.
