One of the best-known historical legends will be in the spotlight on South African pay-TV operator TopTV in October when Fox Entertainment (channel 180) and Top Movies (channel 100) screen new series Camelot and film King Arthur.
According to history and legend King Arthur led the defence of Britain against the Saxon invasion in the early sixth century. His stories are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention, and his historical existence is debated as well as disputed by modern historians.
New series Camelot, starting 3 October at 9pm on Fox starts in the wake of King Uther’s sudden death as chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half-sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control.
On Top Movies on 2 October at 1:20pm, King Arthur starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightley takes a look at the rise of Arthur during the time when the Roman Empire stretched across many nations, including Britain. The movie will be rescreened on 22 October 9pm.
