South Africa’s animated feature film, Jock of the Bushveld (including 3D) (81 prints), has topped the local box office for two weeks in a row. As at 7 August the film had amassed an enormous R4.7m. This is phenomenal business for a South African release.
Two other South African films are on the circuit – The Bang Bang Club (51 prints) and My Hunter’s Heart (2 prints). The former had made just under R1m as at 7 August, while The Foster Brothers’ My Hunter’s Heart had made R36,884 as at 4 August.
Among the blockbusters on release are Harry Potter 7 Part 2 (including 3D) (75 prints), which has made R16.8m in four weeks and Transformers 3 (including 3D), which has accumulated R23.4m after six weeks.
