A statement from the South African Communist Party (SACP) reads:
The SACP has received with shock and sadness the unexpected news of the death of Kgomotso Sebetso, a reporter at the SABC.
This is indeed not just a loss to his family but to the broad journalism family and the many friends he made along the execution of his professional obligations. The SACP sends its condolences to the entire Sebetso family, friends and relatives, colleagues at the SABC and outside the SABC.
In honour of his illustrious role and the professionalism he espoused we must continue to strengthen the capacity of the public broadcaster, including implementing the Polokwane resolution of the increased funding to the SABC, in order to allow the SABC to play its role as a true public broadcaster. Furthermore there must be dedicated discussions and actions about how do we in the future produce journalist of his calibre in order to serve the nation with fairness.
