Forty-four year old senior TV journalist at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Kgomotso Sebetso, died early on the morning of 9 May from injuries sustained in a car crash in Garankuwa, north of Pretoria.
According to SABC News, Garankuwa police say Sebetso’s car crashed into a truck following a visit to his mother for Mother’s Day on 8 May. He was then rushed to hospital in a critical condition and died on Monday morning.
Said Group Executive of SABC News and Current Affairs Phil Molefe: “The death of is a great loss to the SABC and the profession and indeed the country as a whole. Kgomotso was one of our bright stars and a really promising journalist. He will be sadly missed. I take this opportunity to convey condolences to his family and friends.”
