The African National Congress (ANC) has issued the following statement expressing its sadness at the news of the death of respected South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) TV senior journalist Kgomotso Sebetso, who died in a car accident on 8 May in Garankuwa, north of Pretoria.

The ANC statement reads:

The SABC and the South African society has lost one its most dedicated journalists who will be remembered for upholding journalistic integrity and ethics during the many years he covered the country’s transition from apartheid to constitutional democracy. Highly skilled and well-travelled, Sebetso was a political journalist of high calibre who covered many important political assignments here and abroad with utmost distinction – the last having been the run-up to the country’s local government elections.

He will be sorely missed by all of us at the ANC.

At this hour of need, we send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at the SABC and in the journalism fraternity.

May his soul rest in peace.
