The new South African film, Night Drive, about a group of tourists trapped in a game park where terrifying events unfold, went on local release with 10 prints on 4 March and had made R75,126 as at 10 March.
Released by Indigenous Film Distribution and directed by Justin Head, the film stars Isidingo actor Christopher Beasley , with Corine du Toit and Greg Melvill-Smith.
In the number one spot of the Combined Top 10 for the week in question was Big Momma: Like Father Like Son (63 prints) which made R1.6m for the week and has accumulated R4.1m since its release on 25 January.
Second and third spots went to the animated Tangled (including 3D) (78 prints) and Oscar winner The King’s Speech (25 prints). The former has made R17.6m to date and the latter, R5.2m.
New release, The Dilemma (42 prints), a comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, was in fourth spot and made R831,879.
The Reese Witherspoon / Owen Wilson romcom, How do you know (44 prints), was in fifth spot. It has made R2.7m to date.
