Video sharing website YouTube has acquired the professional web video production company Next New Networks. Broadcast Engineering reports that this is a move to improve the quality of content on the Google-owned website.
Next New Networks produces original programming and helps video creators distribute and monetise their films.
YouTube is considering producing sets of videos and programme experiences as opposed to the single video experience so prominent on the website.
The YouTube Next programme will help video makers with whom YouTube shares ad revenue to produce more professional content by providing grants and training.
