Award-winning actor, presenter and comedian Thomas Gumede is heading to Vuzu to host the channel’s gaming show The Verge.
The Verge is an interactive programme on gaming and technology, featuring new releases and in-depth coverage of every platform from consoles to PCs and mobile. Gumede will stand in for regular host Pippa Tshabalala, who is on leave.
According to Gumede he is thrilled to be hosting the multi-platform gaming programme.
“I love gaming; I’ve been a fan since Mario Brothers! Now I can tell my mom that all the gaming I did is now getting me paid! On the real, it’s a great platform for me to get in touch with a new audience,’ says Gumede.
This is not the first association Gumede has had with DSTV: he co-hosted the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards with Lungile “Lungsta’ Radu and has been a performer at the DSTV Comedy Festival where his brand of fresh, in-your-face humour has gone down very well with comedy aficionados.
Gumede won the award for Best Actor in a drama at the 2009 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) for his role in Bay of plenty, making him one of the youngest winners to date.
Gumede made his debut on The Verge on Monday 28 February at 22:30.
