Buyers from the United Arab Emirates, UK, Ireland, Sweden, German, France and China, as well as from 26 African countries including South Africa, have registered to attend Discop Accra, the African television content market that takes place at the Lapalm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana from 9 to 11 February.
Countries looking to sell content at Discop Accra include Australia, Philippines, Canada, China, Colombia, Sweden, Czech Republic, UK, France, Italy, USA, Italy, Japan, India, Iran, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco and Netherlands, among others.
Held once a year in February, the compact, meetings-centric and hotel-based Discop markets focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa are held alternatively in Eastern and Western Africa. Participants mostly include programming and acquisitions executives representing free and pay television content distributors from Sub-Saharan Africa (the buyers) and international and African suppliers of movies, finished programs, formats, live events and packaged TV channels (the sellers).
Participants are regrouped into five distinct categories that also include advertisers and their media-buying agencies, independent producers, financiers and media experts who represent 15% of the overall attendees.
