Draftfcb Cape Town has won three Silver awards and three Certificates for three different clients at the 2010 Midas Awards, the only international competition to recognise excellence in financial services communications on a global scale. The competition attracted entries from 31 countries.

Founded in 2001, the Midas Awards honours stand-out advertising in banking, brokerage, insurance, mutual fund, credit card, real estate, accounting and consulting. It is run by the respected New York Festivals and awards winners with Gold and Silver “ingots’ for their trophy cases.

Draftfcb’s inspirational Momentum ad featuring South African swimming sensation, Natalie du Toit, reaped Silver in the television category, while the Loerie-lauded Momentum Health cinema commercial, Biology of Change, received a certificate for animation.

Both Santam’s 90th Birthday employee communications campaign and an AV entitled Think. Dream. Imagine won Silver, and its print ad, World of Certainty was awarded a Certificate. The other client in the spotlight was Miway’s for its mixed media campaign, Too Good To Be True.

Says Draftfcb MD Godfrey Morley: “The Midas Awards attracts entries from leading agencies operating in the international financial community. It is therefore extremely gratifying to be judged world-class and take our place alongside these agencies.

“Last year, Draftfcb Cape Town was called to the podium twice for the Santam Brand Philosophy book and Santam: The Odds television commercial. Our performance this year, which is an improvement in terms of awards and is spread over more than one client, demonstrates our expertise and flair for communication in the financial services sector.

“We value our partnerships with professional and passionate clients like Momentum, Miway and Santam, who give us such clear direction and insights. As individuals, and as an agency, we look forward to many more years of creative and effective marketing, and hopefully many more awards."
