M-Net’s cross-platform media network aimed at youth, Vuzu, has secured a web series called Private, based on the teen-mystery novels by Kate Brian.

Commencing on Wednesday, 13 October at 9am, Private is produced by Alloy Entertainment, known for its work on The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants and Gossip Girl. It is directed by Dennie Gordon – who has worked on numerous television shows and the movie, What a Girl Wants. Private has been adapted by Sarah Kucserka and Veronica Becker, both of whom have written for Ugly Betty.

The series has an all-star cast that includes Kelsey Sanders (Wizards Of Waverly Place); Samantha Cope (Drake & Josh); Tristin Mays (Alias) and Brant Dougherty (The World’s Smartest Man).

“We are thrilled to have secured Private to add to Vuzu’s already strong offering of online youth programming,’ comments Yolisa Phahle, Channel Director: Special Interests at M-Net. “Gossip Girl has proved one of the most-watched shows on Vuzu and we expect that fans of that show will embrace Private with the same enthusiasm,’ she adds.

Private is centered around the life of Reed Brennan, the ultimate outsider, who arrives at the elite Eason Academy on a scholarship and quickly realises that the Billings House Girls are her ticket to everything the exclusive private school has to offer.

Life is a parade of cute boys, designer clothes, and unparalleled privilege in Billings. But beneath the surface lies a dark underbelly of secrets and murder.
