The new 3D release, the animated Toy Story 3, made a truly mind-boggling R8m on its opening weekend (25 to 27 June) at the South African box office.
It bumped former number one, Schuks Tshabalala’s Survival Guide to South Africa from top spot. The latter, starring South Africa’s Leon Schuster, has grossed an impressive R25m in just five weeks.
Next biggest earners over the weekend were Death at a Funeral, Marmaduke, and new release, She’s Out of My League.
