According to Sunday newspaper reports, the SABC has to conclude its investigation into suspended TV news reader Mahendra Raghunath within the next two weeks.  This is according to a notice given by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

Raghunath was suspended in February following the publication of a report by the Sunday Independent which stated that budget cuts had negatively affected morale in the news-room and resulted in the loss of viewers. The SABC offered no explanation for his suspension.

Raghunath denied that he had spoken to the media.

On Friday, the parties agreed to extend the conciliation process, allowing the SABC time to conclude its investigation.
