World Wide Entertainment is responding for a call from broadcasters and DVD distribution wish-lists for more African content. Following the release of successful titles on African and African-American icons such as Nelson Mandele, Barack Obama, Muhammad Ali and football legend Pele, the company has launched five new unauthorised biographies featuring Tiger Woods; Beyonce Knowles; Michael Jackson; 50 Cent and JAY-Z.
The biographies come hot off the heels of a crop of football-focused titles that also profile African players, as well as Game On, a one-hour documentary profiling South Africa’s evolution to become a world-class sporting host
According to World Wide Entertainment Creative Director Marilyn Higgins, the numerous releases stem from a lot of interest being generated in African-American Icons. “With world events such as the inauguration of President Obama, and South Africa hosting the World Cup in 2010, the eyes of the world are on the achievements of black icons.’
