Talent reality show returns

Pay-TV broadcaster M-Net has commissioned a new season of Idols, to find South Africa’s next singing sensation. This is the sixth season of Idols, which will broadcast on M-Net from July 2010.

Country-wide auditions, which will take place on Saturdays or public holidays only, commence in April 2010. Wannabe idols between the ages of 16 and 30 in Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth, as well as those in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban will have the chance to audition.

M-Net’s Head of Local Productions Helen Smit believe the time is right for another local season of this hit television series: “Idols has always been a hugely popular show around the world and is a firm favourite with M-Net audiences. The show gives mega exposure to young singers who want to break into the South African entertainment industry and with some special surprises up our sleeves, this season will once again make musical waves.’
