James Cameron’s mega–budget 3D epic, Avatar, has currently made $1.1bn worldwide, placing it in third spot in the list of the world’s highest ever grossing films. The film may well overtake the second placed film, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which made $1.12bn.
In first spot is Cameron’s other epic, Titanic, which made a mind-boggling $1.84bn.
Interestingly, most of Avator’s box office has come from overseas ticket sales rather than American ones. (Source: People Magazine)
