US sports broadcaster ESPN will show 25 matches of the FIFA World Cup, which takes place in South Africa this June and July, in 3D. The first match to go out in 3D will be South Africa versus Mexico on 11 June.

Viewers will have to wear special glasses for the 3D broadcasts. ESPN has released no further details on the technology to be used or whether the 3D broadcasts will be available to subscribers outside the US.
