TorrentFreak, the weblog dedicated to all news regarding the BitTorrent filesharing protocol, reports that US TV shows such as Heroes, House, Entourage and How I Met Your Mother, are being massively and illegally downloaded overseas using BitTorrent clients. This form of piracy is especially prevalent in Australia.
People wanting to download TV shows in America can do so legally from the Hulu website. Elsewhere in the world they would have to wait for months to watch the shows legally.
According to TorrentFreak, usuage of the leading TV-torrent distribution site EZTV is up 50% from 2008. Some 15 million people visited the site in September.
