As at 6 September, the South African blockbuster District 9, directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson, had made R4.6m at the South African box office since its release on 28 August.
Another South African film, the indigenous language Izulu Lami (My Secret Sky), took seventh spot in Ster-Kinekor’s Top 8 for the week of 28 August to 3 September and eighth spot in Ster-Kinekor’s Top 8 for the weekend of 4 to 6 September. Its cumulative box office to date is R225,321.
Meanwhile, Disgrace, based on JM Coetzee’s novel of the same name and starring John Malkovich, had made R391,170 as at 6 September.
