Fuelled by the global economic recession, the BBC announced on 8 June in London that the era of big pay deals for BBC radio and television stars was over.
The Guardian reports that any BBC star earning more than £100,000 a year will face a pay cut of 25% when his or her contract is renegotiated. The cut could be increased to 40% for some highly paid stars.
Meanwhile, the BBC is looking to cut 1,200 staff members in its attempt to tighten its belt.
