Amidst daily reports of the ever-deepening financial and management crisis at public broadcaster SABC comes the news that chairperson of the board Kanyi Mkonza advocates government intervention to resolve the situation.
Speaking to Business Day on 28 May, Mkonza said that the SABC, the government and stakeholders (ie. industry and public) needed to work together to find solutions and that the formation of the Save Our SABC coalition was a positive step. She called for the broadcaster to be more accountable to both government and the public.
