Big Fish in association with the Cape Film Commission will present an in-depth documentary masterclass under the acclaimed broadcast journalist and documentary filmmaker Jacques Pauw. The focus will be on documentary production, how to research and how to make documentaries with substance.
Course outline:
Some of the things to be covered in the masterclass will be:
Finding the idea
Initial and in-depth research
Focussing, narrowing and developing the idea
Story boarding
Interview techniques
Requirements:
Applicants must have a commitment to documentary filmmaking and have experience in filmmaking.
You are required to bring ideas you are working on, or would like to develop, to be workshopped in class and you can also bring short documentaries you have worked on for analysis and feedback.

A list of documentaries you have worked on and in what capacity
The name of the documentary that you have worked on that you will be bringing to the workshop for analysis should you be selected.
Please also submit a short proposal of the documentary idea that you would like to workshop in this 5 day masterclass.

This masterclass will be delivered over five days, from Monday, 25 May to Friday, 29 May 2009. Course hours are 09h00 to 16h00 each day.
