One glimmer of light in these dark economic times is that the Canadian city of Vancouver is bustling with filmic activity. The British Columbia Film Commission reports that there are currently 15 features, five MOWs, five pilots, two mini-series and seven TV series on the go in Vancouver, an increase on the same time last year.
All this activity is in sharp contrast with Hollywood, where feature production is the lowest ever of any first quarter.
Factors influencing Vancouver as a location of choice are the recent extension of film and tax credits and the drop in value of the Canadian dollar, not to mention a sturdy film infrastructure. (Source: The Wrap)
