Search engine and content aggregator Google has launched Google Voice. Although still in beta testing phase, www.lifehacker.com reports that Google Voice creates a single phone number and inbox for managing all a user’s phones, transcribing voicemail and more.
The user can selectively filter calls to view voicemail only, SMS only, calls placed, received or missed. Voicemail is transcribed rapidly and is searchable. Calls can be placed or text messages sent to any contact quickly and easily with Google Voice’s quick Call and SMS buttons.
This new service is an updated version of GrandCentral which was acquired by Google last year.
