Following a 70-strong SABC staff petition against Strini Naicker, general manager of sales for radio and televison, and general manger of human resources: commercial enterprise, Lene Chamberlaine, the public broadcaster’s acting SABC CEO, Gab Mampone has suspended the two senior executives.

SABC staff called for the permanent removal of Naicker and Chamberlaine based on claims by the Communications Workers’ Union’s (CWU) that Naicker’s “irregular financial activities’ contributed to the public broadcaster’s current deficit of R784-million. Chamberlaine has been implicated as Naicker’s accomplice. The CWU is compiling a dossier of the alleged irregularities by Naicker and Chamberlaine.

A four-person committee has been appointed by Mampone to carry out an internal report into these allegations.
