The Pink Panther 2, the latest in a long line of sequels in The Pink Panther franchise originally created by director Blake Edwards, had an impressive opening at South African cinema screens, raking in R1.5m over the weekend 27 February to 1 March. This is despite dodgy reviews overseas.
Another new entry and a film which scooped three Oscars (best make-up, art direction and visual effects), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, came in a narrow second for the same weekend at R1.4m.
