The Runway film Resource Centre at Cape Town’s Waterfront Studios is inviting storytellers and writers with some experience to attend a “Pitching and Scriptwriting to a Production Brief” session.
Commencing on 11 March and ending on 19 April, the session will require candidates to work in teams as well as alone. Candidates will write realistic and actual briefs according to set deadlines. Pitches will have to meet industry standards and will be heard and viewed by producers eager to identify local talent.
Xhosa and Afrikaans scriptwriters fluent in English are most in demand. Graduates will be recognised as professional scriptwriters. Their first years’ SAFREA membership fees will be subsidised by the Cape Film Commission. Their scriptwriting profiles will be displayed on www.safrea.co.za.
A sample of each applicant’s creativing writing talent must accompany their letter of application, which should include a full CV and contact details. Completed applications must be delivered to the Runway Film Resource Centre by Friday, 6 March at 15h00.
Approved candidates will be required to sign an undertaking to attend all workshop sessions and to complete all homework assignments. Punctuality and dedication are pre-requisities.
Training will take place on Wednesday evenings and on weekends sarting from 11 March.
