African subscription pay-TV network GTV is adding two new channels, Black Entertainment Television (BET) and the Afro Music Channel, to its service offer on 1 December.
BET will launch with a slate of hit programming, including 106 & Park, Real Life Divas, College Hill, Keyshia Cole and Leading Men, as well as special events such as the BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards and Celebration of Gospel. BET’s longest-running gospel programme, Bobby Jones Gospel, will air on Sundays.
The Afro Music Channel is the first television channel dedicated to showcasing the best artists from across the African continent and the wider African diasporas. It features the latest music videos, live sessions, interviews and documentaries covering African musicians who have made history through their music.
In addition to its own seven channels—G Prime, G Series, G Africa, G Sports 1, G Sports 2, G Xtra and G Star—GTV offers, among others, BBC World, Sky News, Al Jazeera International, E! Entertainment, Nickelodeon and France 24. Earlier this month, GTV added Discovery World to its service as well.
