The 3rd South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) will take place in early February 2009 at the State Theatre in Pretoria. Previous editions of the SAFTAS took place in October 2006 and October 2007.
The SAFTAS were created primarily to promote quality and excellence in South African film and television products and to highlight and profile celebrated South African talent and product to national and international markets in the industry.
Custodian of the awards, the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF), has put out a call for proposals for a production company to produce the awards event – a stage production with part of the event being broadcast live-to-air on SABC1 for a period of three hours.
The NFVF is looking for a skilled live event multicam production company. Production of the SAFTAS will include set design. The production company would be required to “cover the event’ for television broadcast, working together with NFVF internal events management and the SABC to ensure that the event is realised for television
