This August, Big Brother Africa goes on air again but in Australia it has been decided to can Big Brother after eight successful seasons.
The series finale of the hit format, produced by Endemol Southern Star, will air on TEN on 21 July. TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott, said that the network is “immensely proud of the show and the incredible success it has enjoyed since premiering in 2001.’
TEN’s CEO, Grant Blackley said that Big Brother had been an important franchise for the network but they were confident that it was the right time to end the series.
John de Mol created the Big Brother format nine years ago and not withstanding the sex, bullying, racism and often scandalous behaviour of the contestants, it became one of the most popular format series worldwide.
