After a comprehensive search which included testing more than a 100 possible candidates, one of South Africa’s popular radio and television presenters, Mark Pilgrim, has been chosen as the host of M-Net’s new game show Power of 10.
Power of 10, South Africa’s richest game show to date, in which contestants can win a massive R10 million in prize money, will be screened in one of M-Net’s most prominent timeslots – Sundays at 18:00, just before Carte Blanche – starting on Sunday, 3 August 2008.
Power of 10 is an international format created by Sony Pictures. This show has already been produced in Australia, Columbia, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Russia, Sweden and the USA. The South African version is produced by Rapid.
Pilgrim previously hosted M-Net’s Big Brother 1 and 2. Later he also presented the late-night talk show Sex Etc on M-Net.
Power of 10 is Pilgrim’s 10th stint as a presenter on a television show. He has also been a radio DJ for 13 years.
A little known fact is that Mark was a market researcher for 10 years and served as the Johannesburg Chairperson of the South African Market Research Association. “I have a passion for research polls and it will be great fun finding out, once the contestants have locked in their answers, what the current opinions and behaviour of South Africans are,” he says.
