In the midst of its second round of negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers of Hollywood (AMPTP), the Screen Actors Guild of America (SAG) has signed 300 deals with independent film producers. This is to ensure that some productions will be able to continue once the SAG contract expires on 30 June.
Industry insiders believe that SAG won’t endorse the primetime deal signed with the AMPTP by its sister union, the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists. This does not hold out much hope for the SAG / AMPTP negotiations, which are now in their fourth week.
