Hollywood hearthrob and character actor of note, Johnny Depp, won two prizes at the MTV Movie Awards – Best Villain (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and Best Comedic Performance (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End). The ceremony took place on 1 June at California’s Gibson Ampitheatre and was hosted by Mike Meyers (Austin Powers). Winners are selected according to votes by MTV viewers.
Transformers was voted Best Movie, Ellen Page won Best Female Performance for her stint as a pregnant teen in Juno, and Will Smith won Best Male Performance for I Am Legend.
Adam Sandler was presented the MTV Generation achievement award.
