MIPCOM, CANNES: YouTube and Joost have signed distribution deals with Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) which will allow the two websites to use content from CNN International.
The deals were announced at MIPCOM by Casey Harwood, senior vice president of digital media at TBS Europe. “We have invested in our channels, website and mobile offering, so this is the logical next step in how we engage users,’ said Harwood.
“The job for us is to find users and then manage them back to our wholly owned destinations. The good thing is that there is so much data in the digital market that you can quickly assess how well things are working out.’
The content will take the form of short versions of popular shows. Turner has also signed deals with YouTube and Joost for distribution of clips from what is described as its “edgy adult brand, Adult Swim.
