As a run-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, South African free-to-air channel e.tv will broadcast a new locally produced soccer-themed drama series commencing on Monday, 3 September at 9pm.
“Shooting Stars’ is only the second prime time local drama series ever to have been produced for e.tv, the other being “Jozi Streets’ which was broadcast several years ago.
The 52-part “Shooting Stars’ was conceived in anticipation of South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 World Cup and will roll out over the next three years. It is produced by Penguin Films, with Creative Director and Executive Producer Roberta Durrant at the helm. Well known soccer personality Farouk Abrahams was advisor and soccer coach on the series.
“Shooting Stars’ charts the fortunes of a number of fictional footballers in the run-up to 2010.
