In a celebration of natural history, eco-tourism and cultural filmmaking, the ROSCAR Celebratory Awards will be awarded to filmmakers at the Durban Wild Talk Africa Film Festival and Conference, which runs from 27-30 August 2007 at the ICC Durban.
The deadline for entries has been extended to 30 June 2007. The awards will fall under the following categories: best editing, best cinematography; best production using innovative technology; best wildlife production on a limited budget; best children’s wildlife production; best environmental and conservation/campaign production; best eco-tourism, travel and/or culture production; best newcomer.
The aim of the ROSCAR Celebratory Awards is to recognise excellence in natural history, travel and cultural filmmaking, and to maximise audience participation and enjoyment. Therefore, the film entries to the ROSCAR Celebratory Awards will be made widely accessible for public viewing as part of a community outreach programme through local cinemas.
Other exciting components at the Durban Wild Talk Africa Festival include inspiring seminars, informative workshops, world-class screenings, an interactive exhibition area, entertaining evening events and the opportunity to network with Commissioning Editors from international broadcasters such as Discovery, Animal Planet U.S and International, National Geographic Television and BBC NHU.
