According to the Associated Press, Hollywood Studios Universal and Warner Bros. plan to deliver films to cinemas via satellite and the Internet. The studios are working with Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP).

Cinema owners with digital projection systems could use the DCIP system to show movies that would otherwise have sold out, on additional screens at their multiplexes. Art films could also be scheduled over short runs, using the system.

Tests are expected to commence in late 2007.
