The Durban Film Office (DFO) has been invited by the Hong Kong Film Services Office (FSO) of the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority to attend a location trade show for film commissions to promote their respective territories as filming locations.
This will form part of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) organised by the Hong Kong Development Council at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (20 – 23 March).
Hong Kong is one of the world’s major film exporters and producers. In 2003, Hong Kong produced 79 films and about HK$437 million of exports of films in the form of videotapes, DVDs and other compact discs.
FILMART is an annual event that has become a pivotal business platform for film, TV and multi-media products and services in Asia. This trade fair serves as the first-choice platform in the region for international film commissions and film offices to interact with Hong Kong, Mainland China and Asian Film & TV.
Locations World is a new pavilion to be introduced in FILMART 2007. Co-organised with the Film Services Office, Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (FSO), Locations World will help producers find the ideal shooting locations. The pavilion acts as a perfect information centre for location scouting and location services where international film commissioners can provide first hand information about tax incentives and government support on film shooting in their respective regions.
