Pay-TV broadcaster M-Net launched its new game show “Deal or No Deal’ to the media on 14 January at their studios in Johannesburg. Scheduled for weekly broadcast as from Sunday, 4 February at 6pm to 29 June, “Deal or No Deal’ is purely a money show where a single contestant can win up to R1m each week, simply by selecting unknown amounts of money in suitcases. It is presented by music and TV personality, Ed Jordan.

The show is produced by Marie Rosholt of Endemol South Africa and directed by Anton Burgraaff. Director of M-Net Local Productions Carl Fischer noted that “Deal or No Deal’ has been broadcast in 50 countries. “It has gained a majority market in most of those territories and the South African version is based on the US show which has been described as “prime time entertainment on steroids’. The show has everything a game show could want – drama, jeopardy, happiness, sadness and excitement.”

An added attraction for male viewers and contestants is that the money suitcases are carried on stage by 26 FHM models in skimpy dresses.

There is also a weekly sms competition with R10 000 up for grabs.
