Script development course

The South African Scriptwriters Union (SASWU)j has issued a call for applications to a Script Development Course to be held in Cape Town, 13 November to 3 December 2006.CAPE TOWN, NOV 13 TO DEC 3 2006.

The course is open to all scriptwriters from South Africa as well as the SADEC region. The course will be conducted by Dermod Judge, for the third year running. Learning is based on the accredited SASWA Scriptwriting Course and learners’ work will hopefully be assessed at NQF Level 5.

Writers in the region are called upon to submit a concept for a short film which will be developed during the course into a screenplay. This screenplay will form part of the assessment process as will a specially prepared handbook which will be handed in at the end of the course. The course will be conducted in English.

To access the course, a two page concept for a short film will be required (with a CV and Letter of Motivation). Membership of SASWU is compulsory (including participants from the SADEC region) see www.saswu.org.za for Membership procedures, R100 per annum. The course is fully sponsored by the Deutsche Welle Television Training Academy, Germany. Return airfares and the cost of the course accommodation i.e. bed and breakfast will be covered in full. You will have to provide your own additional costs e.g. airport transfers and taxes, transport and meals etc.
